# Can customers use my business inside Google Search and Gemini?

By TKM Studio · Reviewed by [Tarik Kaan Muslu](https://tkmstudio.com/about) · Published 31 October 2026

Since 28 October 2026 businesses can apply to put their own service inside Google Search and the Gemini app. Google calls it Connected Apps. It is in preview, and Google does not present it as a way to rank your website. Who it is for, what Google checks, and what you can check today.

## What did Google open?

On 28 October 2026 Google opened a preview of the Connected Apps Platform: one place where a business builds an app once and makes it available in Search, in the Gemini app, or both.

A connected app is not a website. It is your service, used from inside Google's AI. A customer types @ and your app's name, or mentions your app in a question, and the app stays in context for related requests in that conversation.

Google says more than 50 Connected Apps have already launched between Search and Gemini. Of the partner apps it names, Adobe, Experian, Localiza and Peloton are live in Gemini, with Search support in the coming weeks, and Calm is launching across both Search and Gemini.

Access opens in phases. Google says more developers, markets and Google products will follow over the coming months. Neither the announcement nor the documentation we read lists which countries are included today.

## Is this for my business?

It is for businesses that already offer something a customer can do through software: book, check, order, track, look up an account. Google's platform connects that service to Search and the Gemini app.

Our view: if your website is your only digital product, there is nothing to submit here.

## What does Google check before it publishes an app?

The technical part belongs to your web team or developer. In plain words, Google asks for:

- A server that Google's AI can talk to, which Google calls an MCP server, reachable over a secure HTTPS connection. The alternative is an Android app that offers its features through Google's AppFunctions.
- Proof that you own your domain: a small file at a fixed address on your website. It must open directly, without a redirect.
- If your server only lets in known addresses: Google's addresses have to be on that list. Google says they can change over time, so someone has to keep the list current.
- A name, a one sentence description under 30 words, an icon, at least three things the app can do and at least three example requests, at least two of them starting with @ and your app's name.
- Public Terms of Service and Privacy Policy pages.
- Test accounts, if your customers sign in. Google warns that an app it cannot fully test may be rejected during review.

Two choices cannot be changed later: the app's category and the type of connection. After publishing, changes to the app need a new version.

## What does Google not allow?

- Third party advertising or promotion through the app. Your own brand elements are allowed.
- Describing the app more broadly than what it does, to make the model pick it.
- Exchanging more data than the app's features need. You must publish a privacy policy and follow it.

## What can I check today?

- Is there a task customers would like to do with you by name? A booking, a lookup, a status check.
- Ask your web team whether your site can serve a file under /.well-known/ that opens directly, with no redirect.
- Ask whether your server or firewall blocks visitors by address, and who would keep Google's addresses on that list.
- Make sure your Terms of Service and Privacy Policy pages are public.

## Questions people ask

### Will a connected app help my website rank?

Google does not present it that way. It describes apps that customers use inside Search and the Gemini app, and the announcement does not mention any effect on website rankings.

### Can I apply today?

Google calls it a preview and opens access in phases. Developers apply through the "Apply for the preview" link on developers.google.com/connected-apps.

### Do I need an Android app?

No. A server is enough. Google's guide recommends the MCP server as the default path across Android, iOS and the web.

### Can I show ads inside a connected app?

No third party advertising or promotion. Your own brand elements are allowed.

### How long does Google's review take?

Google's publishing guide does not say.
